Before I found out that I was going to be a dad everyone always asked when I was going to be a dad.

The moment I confirmed the pregnancy with the doctor I told everyone the good news.. at which point they tell me it's taboo to talk about your first born when it isn't even past the first trimester..

What do you guys want from me? I tell you what you've been so anxious to find out and yet you guys are so disappointed? :P

Congrats too!

Don't worry about what they say. Basically, I see it as a psychological thingy, an iminent baby is a time of great uncertainty and anxiety. Folks don't know how to deal with it so therefore throw in all kinds of taboos and no-no's when it doesn't necessarily change the outcome either way. It's a coping mechanism.

Congrats again and warn you first ah.... after baby comes, in the first year at least, think your XBOX 360 time will be severely limited. Wife's gonna have lots of expectation on you helping out. But the real joy of cuddling your child will more than outweight 100 games.

Why?

I think it's because indirectly, they want to find out how you are doing on the sex life.
It's a subtle way to approach the subject! :P
