I decided to wake WZ up early this morning to take him to the KL Bird Park, I wonder if it's a bit sad that the last time I took him out for a trip was pretty much exactly ONE YEAR AGO? Entry fee was RM15 per MyKad carrying adult and WZ got in for free since he's only 2 technically. I brought along my new Sony A550 of course hoping that I'll at least be able to catch a picture of oh.. a peacock maybe? Those make nice subjects. Then as we just entered the park and was walking down the entry slope.
A peacock casually struts past us. I thought to myself, they just let a prized peacock roam around freely? Then after we stopped for some pics around the area, I find the guy perched on top of the gate.
It was standing close to the edge, and pretty much knew what it was about to do and switched over to continous fire mode and waited for it to pounce and...
I'm no professional bird shooter so... farking tree! Disappointed I walked down the road and not 100 meters over from my peacock encounter. I see ANOTHER one?!?!
Surprising to me cause I always thought peacocks were treasured in a bird pock since while they're popular, maintaining those feathers must be tough! But here was another one! And with it's feathers spread open too!
And for the first time I also get to see what a peacock's butt looks like.
So under all that shiny blue feathers, it just looks like any other bird. :P I wondered if the reason this guy was spreading it's tail was because of the presence of this female peacock.
Feel free to correct me if this is not a female peacock. It's definitely something to enter a bird park and you get greeted by a fully deployed peacock. And I think the other tourist agree too.
One thing that fascinated me was that the birds roamed freely and seem to be pretty used to being around people already.
I guess to them these people were just taking a stroll around the park as well just like them.
And there are a LOT of peacocks around.
I saw them pretty much everywhere... on the walkways, in the flamingo pond, in the Ostrich paddock. They seem to get around quite a lot. But I keep failing for the money shot.
Can peacocks actually fly?
WZ was paying more attention to the various water fall ornaments around instead of the actual birds, such as another peacock.
Flamingos.
Peacocks.
These... look like they're from the pelican family.
There were some other birds in cages as well, some eagles, and owls. I didn't have time to take proper pictures of them since WZ was running around the place. Then we came to an interesting scene, what happens when these guys are in your way?
I guess you could just run at them and see how they scatter?
One thing left me with a bad feeling in my mouth was seeing this car try to yank the feathers off a peacock, worse still was that his parents was encouraging him even though when he did manage to grab hold of a feather once he couldn't pull it off and the peacock was screaming in pain.
Little bastard. I blame his parents. Let's end this post on a lighter note.
WZ decided to just walk with his hands behind him all of a sudden, which lead to this interesting scenario.
The woman in green went "Oh my god!" then the one in white also put her hands behind her back to mimic WZ, then she noticed WZ's parents were behind him and staring at them so she quickly stopped. :P
All in all, it was an enjoyable trip. Worth the entry fee since there are definetly birds around! ;)
